How to Clean Fuel Injectors

. Inside or outside of the Vehicle?

Should you clean the injectors in place? Probably not! or
Should you remove the injectors and use some type of fuel injector cleaning machine?

The cost outweighs the benefits Remanufactured Fuel Injectors are the same price as you should take the injectors out to clean them anyway.

Let us explain!!!
The easier, and more dangerous route is to clean the injectors in place. If done in the vehicle, the technician doesnt have to remove your fuel injectors or do much under the hood. The technician simply blocks the fuel from the gas tank to the engine with a U-Turn pipe, depositing the fuel back into the tank. They then hook up the pressurized solvent source to the fuel line, and start the motor. The technician then supplies varying levels of solvent to the fuel system and it is pumped through the injectors, valves, and exhaust systems while the engine is running. This is a VERY FLAMMABLE SUBSTANCE and should be used WITH EXTREME CAUTION. The solvents cook off many of the deposits on the valves, pistons, rings, and combustion chambers with chemical, physical, and thermal reactions. This can reduce the need for an extra engine cleaning, or it can expose other weaknesses in the engine compartment. The fuel injector cleaning takes only 10 to 15 minutes, and you can usually tell right away if the treatment addressed the problem (engine runs smoother, idle misfire gone, etc.). Easy as it is, the are some obvious drawbacks to on-car injector cleaning.

Badly clogged injectors are not cleaned solvent cant break through.
Thick Deposits are not removed not enough time in the solvent.
Can damage other engine parts high temperature burn reduces deposits, and can do the same to parts.
Solvents Can attack rubber seals, o-rings, and plastic parts in your vehicle
Risky Trained Personnel Only!

Another limitation with on-car injector cleaning is that you have to do some additional tests to confirm that the injectors responded well enough to your cleaning efforts. Fuel injector performance can be confirmed indirectly by checking for weak cylinders. If there is more than a 10% power variation between cylinders, and you just cleaned the fuel injectors, one of them is probably clogged or very close. Try the cleaning again. A simple injector pressure drop test will not tell you if the injectors are flowing evenly or not within the cylinder so you would have to take them out anyway to test for this.
